MyPoints Review 2026: Swagbucks' Underrated Sister Site

MyPoints has been paying since 1996. I tested it alongside Swagbucks for 30 days to figure out which Prodege platform actually pays better — and the answer surprised me.

MyPoints is the oldest platform in the Prodege family — launched in 1996, it predates Swagbucks by 12 years and InboxDollars by 4 years. Despite this longevity, it is often overlooked in favor of its flashier siblings. I tested it for 30 days to answer one question: is MyPoints redundant if you already use Swagbucks, or does it offer something different?

The short answer: MyPoints is not a Swagbucks clone. It is a shopping-first platform that happens to also offer surveys. If you do regular online shopping, MyPoints can outperform Swagbucks on total monthly earnings. For survey-only users, there is less differentiation.

The Maddening Points System (and Why It Works)

MyPoints has the most confusing point system of any platform I have tested. Unlike Swagbucks (1 SB = $0.01) or InboxDollars (actual dollars), MyPoints uses different conversion rates for different redemption types:

  • Gift cards: ~160 Points = $1 (varies by brand)
  • PayPal: ~159 Points = $1 (minimum 3,970 Points = $25)
  • Travel miles: Variable conversion
  • Visa prepaid: ~170 Points = $1

This is objectively worse than a flat 100 = $1 conversion. But there is a method to the madness: MyPoints intentionally makes points feel abundant. A survey awarding 200 Points sounds bigger than $1.25, and psychologically, that matters. You earn points faster than you realize their dollar value — which makes the platform feel more rewarding than it actually is.

My 30-Day Earnings Breakdown

MetricValue
Points from surveys2,100 Points (~$13.10)
Points from shopping cashback4,500 Points (~$28.13)
Points from offers600 Points (~$3.75)
Points from videos + email300 Points (~$1.88)
Sign-up bonus (pending)1,750 Points (~$10.94 — requires $20 purchases)
Total earned (30 days)7,500 Points (~$46.88)
Active time spent~6 hours (surveys only)
Survey hourly rate$2.18/hour

60% of my earnings came from shopping cashback — not surveys. If you only use MyPoints for surveys, you will earn about the same as Swagbucks surveys ($2-$2.50/hour) with a similar screen-out rate. The shopping is where MyPoints differentiates.

MyPoints Shopping Cashback: The Real Differentiator

MyPoints partners with 2,000+ retailers and offers 1-15 points per dollar spent (roughly 0.6-9% cashback). During my test month:

  • Walmart.com — 3 Points/$1 on $150 purchase = 450 Points (~$2.81)
  • Home Depot — 8 Points/$1 on $280 purchase = 2,240 Points (~$14.00)
  • Macy's — 10 Points/$1 on $120 purchase = 1,200 Points (~$7.50)
  • Various small purchases — ~610 Points total

These were purchases I was making anyway. The Home Depot cashback ($14) alone earned more than 6 hours of surveys. Compare MyPoints shopping rates to Swagbucks shopping rates, and MyPoints often offers 1-3 more points per dollar spent at the same retailers. The difference is small per transaction but compounds over a year.

On a $500/month online shopping habit at an average 5 Points/$1 (3.1% effective cashback), you would earn 30,000 Points/year (~$188). That is real money for zero additional effort.

Travel Miles: A Unique Redemption

One feature no other Prodege platform offers: MyPoints lets you redeem points for United MileagePlus and Southwest Rapid Rewards miles. If you are a frequent flyer who values miles at 1.2-1.5 cents each, this can be more valuable than gift cards. However, the conversion rate is not published transparently, and it varies. This is a niche feature — valuable for travelers, irrelevant for everyone else.

What MyPoints Does Well

  • Best shopping cashback in the Prodege family. MyPoints consistently offers higher points-per-dollar than Swagbucks and InboxDollars at the same retailers. If you shop online, this is the Prodege platform to use.
  • $10 sign-up bonus is competitive. Earn $10 after making $20 in qualifying purchases or completing your first activity. It is structured differently than InboxDollars' instant $5, but the total is higher.
  • Travel mile redemptions are unique. United and Southwest miles give MyPoints a niche that Swagbucks and InboxDollars do not serve. For frequent travelers, this alone justifies an account.
  • 2,000+ store shopping network. The retailer coverage is broader than InboxDollars and slightly better than Swagbucks on cashback rates for major retailers.
  • Grocery coupons section. Print coupons for grocery items, earn points when they are redeemed. Niche, but valuable for coupon users.

What Could Be Better

  • The points system is unnecessarily confusing. 160 Points ≠ $1, 159 Points ≠ $1, 170 Points ≠ $1 — it feels designed to obscure the real dollar value. InboxDollars' straight-dollar system beats this hands down for transparency.
  • Survey experience is identical to Swagbucks. Same survey routers, same screen-out rates, same per-survey pay. If you are already using Swagbucks for surveys, MyPoints surveys add no incremental value — just duplication.
  • PayPal minimum is a weird number. 3,970 Points = $25. It is $25, but the point conversion makes it look arbitrary. Just make it 4,000 Points.
  • US and Canada only. Limited geographic availability compared to Swagbucks (10+ countries) or PrizeRebel (150+ countries).
  • The app is behind the web experience. MyPoints introduced a mobile app relatively late (2019), and it shows. The shopping cashback features work better on desktop.

Is MyPoints Legit?

Yes. MyPoints has been operating since 1996 — nearly 30 years — making it one of the oldest rewards platforms in existence. Owned by Prodege alongside Swagbucks, it shares the same corporate backing, payment infrastructure, and BBB A- rating. Trustpilot shows 3.9/5 across 10,000+ reviews — slightly lower than Swagbucks (4.3) but still credible.

I cashed out $25 via PayPal (arrived in 4 business days) and a $10 Amazon gift card (arrived in 24 hours). No issues.

The optimal strategy: Use Swagbucks for surveys and Discover offers (bigger catalog). Use MyPoints for shopping cashback (higher rates). Use both passive features (videos, emails) to compound the small stuff. One Prodege account covers all platforms through their unified login — you do not need multiple email addresses.

Final Verdict

Rating: 4/5

MyPoints is not a Swagbucks replacement — it is a complement. If you do not shop online, there is almost no reason to choose MyPoints over Swagbucks. But if you spend $200+/month shopping online, the superior cashback rates make MyPoints the best Prodege platform for passive earnings. The travel mile redemptions add unique value for frequent flyers.

Do not use MyPoints as your primary survey platform. Use it as your shopping cashback platform and let the surveys be a bonus. Stacked with Swagbucks for offers and Survey Junkie for pure surveys, it rounds out a complete earning strategy.

I earned $46.88 in 30 days, but only $13.10 from surveys. Shopping cashback ($28.13) did the heavy lifting. Your results depend entirely on your shopping habits.
