SurveySavvy Review 2026: $5/Month Passive Income — Just for Installing a Browser Extension?

SurveySavvy has been around since 1999 --- ancient in internet years --- and it offers something genuinely different: passive income from sharing anonymised browsing data via the SavvyConnect browser extension. It anonymously collects data about your browsing behaviour --- what sites you visit, how long you stay, what you search for. This data is aggregated and sold to market research firms. You earn $5/month for each device with the extension installed (up to 3 devices = $15/month).

2. Paid surveys (active): Standard surveys sent via email. Pay $1--$10 each. Survey frequency is low --- expect 2--6 surveys per month.

What We Liked

The passive income is genuinely passive $5/month for doing nothing beyond installing an extension is a good deal. If you install SavvyConnect on three devices (laptop, desktop, work computer), you earn $15/month --- $180/year --- for no ongoing effort. This is one of the best passive-to-effort ratios in the survey/beermoney space.

$1 minimum payout is unique for a check-based platform Most platforms require $10--$25 before they will even process a payment. SurveySavvy will mail you a check for $1. The practical value of receiving a $1 check by mail is debatable, but the principle --- that they will pay any amount --- is a trust signal.

Longevity is a trust asset SurveySavvy has been paying users since 1999 --- 27 years of operation. In an industry full of platforms that launch and disappear within 2--3 years, this longevity is genuinely reassuring.

What Could Be Better

Physical check only --- no PayPal, no ACH, no gift cards This is SurveySavvy's biggest limitation by far. In 2026, mailing physical checks is an anachronism. Checks take 2--4 weeks to arrive, require a trip to the bank (or mobile deposit), and are inconvenient for anyone who does not use a traditional US bank account. International users cannot receive checks at all.

The website looks like it is from 2005 SurveySavvy's website has not been meaningfully updated in over a decade. It works, but it looks abandoned. For a platform asking you to share browsing data, a modern, trustworthy design would go a long way.

Privacy concerns with SavvyConnect You are sharing your browsing data with a market research company. SurveySavvy states the data is anonymised and aggregated --- and as a 27-year-old company, it likely complies with these claims --- but the privacy tradeoff is real. Read the privacy policy carefully before installing.

Survey frequency is low 2--6 surveys per month is not a reliable income stream. SurveySavvy's value is the passive income, not the surveys.

Verdict

SurveySavvy is worth it for the passive income alone --- $5--$15/month for installing a browser extension is excellent. The surveys are a bonus. But the physical-check-only payout and outdated website mean it is best treated as a background earner, not a primary platform.
